The Island of Rebirth

On this first island, two iconic monuments rise from their ashes: Notre-Dame de Paris and Shuri Castle. Both devastated by fire in 2019, they tell the story of their reconstruction — the result of collaboration between artisans, scientists, and engineers combining traditional expertise with modern innovation.
Two symbolic figures bear witness to their histories: a foliage-covered head, drawn by architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc for Notre-Dame, and a Shisa lion head, emblem of Shuri Castle.
These original artefacts, damaged in the fires, embody both the memory of the past and the hope of renewal.
