The Protocol Lounge

The protocol lounge reflects the timeless elegance of French design, reimagined through a contemporary lens. The space is organized around three focal points where French refinement meets Japanese minimalism, all unified by a floor inspired by the cabochon stone patterns found in French châteaux.
Iconic pieces by Pierre Paulin sit alongside lacquer and tatami creations by José Lévy, surrounding a raw green stoneware meeting table by Cinna, reminiscent of a dream-like stone.
At the center, a monumental charred-wood table by Ligne Roset commands attention. It is surrounded by eight reception chairs dressed in pastel tones inspired by Japanese aesthetics. Overhead, alabaster light fixtures from the Alain Ellouz ateliers cast a soft glow, immersing the room in a serene ambiance.
A Franco-Japanese photo-call, designed for official portraits, brings together a lacquer and silver-leaf folding screen by Garnier & Linker for Kouseido and a sculpture by the Sèvres Manufactory, The Kiss by Falconet, whose base has been reinterpreted by Sam Baron. Surrounding the scene are original prints by Paul Jacoulet (1896–1960), a French artist celebrated for his Japanese-inspired woodblock prints, highlighting the shared love of France and Japan for the cultures of the Pacific Islands.
