France Pavilion

Welcome to the France Pavilion, designed by the architectural firms Coldefy and CRA–Carlo Ratti Associati. Like a theatrical stage, its monumental and contemporary façade rises before you, wrapped in flowing drapery that sways gently—evoking the rhythm of water stirred by the wind. At its center, a graceful cast of a couple, reproduced by the GrandPalaisRmn workshops, invites you to follow the central theme of the Pavilion: Love.

In front of you, a wide ramp in rose-tinted copper extends from the façade like a signal. As you ascend its gentle curves, you are invited to take in a new perspective. From the balconies above, you can overlook the entrance and take in sweeping views of the World Expo site. A cloud of transparent tubes hovers around you, playing with light to create a space that feels both open and intimate.

Though temporary, the Pavilion has been designed with sustainability in mind: its structure is reusable, its double-layered skin provides thermal insulation, and its green roof collects rainwater to help create a soothing microclimate.

Crossing through the façade, you’ll step “behind the curtain” into an immersive, sensory, and emotional universe crafted by artist Justine Emard and the design studio GSM Project. And at the rear of the Pavilion, don’t miss the Miraculous Garden, where nature extends the architecture into a poetic composition.
